Manuel Albano is Vice-President of the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (CIG) since 2020, a position he also held between 2009 and 2011.
He graduated as a Social Worker by the Institute of Social Work of Porto (1993), and since 1994 he has worked hard on defending gender equality, women’s human rights, and gender-based violence.
From 2012 to 2020 he served as Director of the Northern Delegation of CIG.
He is National Rapporteur on Trafficking in Human Beings since January 2008, coordinator of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th National Plans against Trafficking in Human Being and Focal Point to the OSCE for gender equality and human trafficking issues.
